This technology enables the simultaneous use of land for agricultural production and the generation of solar power. Through well-designed system concepts, farms can use their land more efficiently, tap into additional sources of income, and strengthen their resilience to climate change. At the same time, ecological benefits arise, such as through targeted shading that protects plants from extreme weather and can reduce water consumption.
There is also significant potential for collaboration in the transatlantic context: California brings extensive experience in scaling solar projects as well as in innovative business and financing models, while Germany provides important impetus in research, regulation, and the practical implementation of agri-PV pilot projects. An intensive exchange, ranging from demonstration projects to political dialogue, can help overcome existing hurdles and accelerate the widespread adoption of this technology.
Join the Agrivoltaics Conference and learn how this dual-use approach opens up new economic opportunities, strengthens the resilience of agricultural systems, and can make a tangible contribution to a sustainable energy and agricultural transition.
