On Intersolar North America, the world’s leading brand for solar exhibitions and conferences, the conference Session “Green Cities - Sustainability as an Economic Growth Engine”, taking part on July 10th, 2012 from 2.00-6.00 pm in San Francisco, shows how the turn to renewable energies offers huge opportunities for added value and growing employment on a local level.
In the “Green Cities” conference session, an integrated part of the Intersolar conference, will be explained and demonstrated how solar energy plays an important role in achieving sustainability aims of cities. Gerhard Stryi-Hipp from Europe’s largest solar research institute Fraunhofer ISE, presents recent research findings and within explains “How to become a Smart City”. From Californian side Bradley E. Baker, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Codding Investments, Sonoma Mountain Village, gives an introduction into "The Solar Sweet Spot: 1 Megawatt Neighborhood Systems", Dawn Weisz Executive Officer of Marin Clean Energy will present the vision and the strategy of the Marin Clean Energy program and Danielle Murray from the Department of Environment, San Francisco, reports on “Driving local economic development through sustainability leadership”. Finally Hansjoerg Lerchenmueller, CEO of Soitec Solar, will give a best practice example of solar business in both the United States and Germany with his lecture: “Solar energy as a driver for economic development – Case studies from Freiburg and San Diego”.
